Cystic acne develops when acne in its initial stages is not properly treated. So the first step in addressing cystic acne is regular cleansing activity such as frequent washing of the infected areas perhaps multiple times each day. This will remove the oils that become infected in the pores of the skin. When these infections are allowed to fester, they develop into cysts which go deep into the skin.
Since acne is an infected pore that is most likely blocked, squeezing the pimple or zit frequently forces the infected material deeper below the skin. This infection then becomes further irritated and a cyst forms below the skin. With this infection the skin begins to break down adding to the infection and increasing the damaging nature of the cyst. It is important not to squeeze or pick a pimple or bump on the skin.
Hormonal changes such as are experienced during pregnancy, when birth control pills are taken or during menstrual cycles are a challenge for many women. There are many acne cures for women that need to be considered and are addressed elsewhere in this blog.
Body changes that occur as we mature play a major role in acne for teens. Teenage acne treatment can be very basic, but must be disciplined activity at a time in their lives when young people lack, and in fact many resist, a disciplined life. Yet if this is not addressed quickly cysts may develop and you’ll be out looking for a cystic acne cure.
The truth of cystic acne is that it will not go away overnight. It will likely take a few weeks of steady work to resolve acne that has developed to this stage. So what can you do?
First, wash the acne infected areas multiple times each day with soap and hot water. This will ensure that no additional bacteria enter the infection. Second, apply hot towels or a hot washcloth and leave them on the infected area until the cloth cools off. This will draw the infection out of the sore area. Another control aspect would be to cut out sweets and soft drinks. These can exacerbate the problem, especially for teens. Lastly, if the above does not begin showing results, consult your pharmacist or family doctor for an over the counter or prescription topical treatment or drug to help the process.
When looking for a cystic acne cure or cystic acne treatment, consider your diet and washing habits. Starting with the basics may provide you with a homemade acne treatment that can rid you of acne once and for all.
