Acne can be a distressing ailment. It can completely ruin a date or job interview through its affect on our sense of self. Acne is hard to hide because its usual position is prominently on our face. We can find some comfort in knowing that it is the most common skin condition on earth.

Acne usually occurs when our sebaceous glands become inflamed and are infected with a bacterium: (propionibacterium acne). The sebaceous gland secretes our natural moisturiser; sebum. It coats the hair surface, prevents excessive evaporation of water and keeps the skin soft.
