Acne – it’s enough to send people running to their doctors and in desperation undergoing surgeries that may not always be wise and can cost a fortune. Before you do anything, you need to know what acne is.
Puberty is often blamed for acne and while hormones related to puberty are certainly one reason for acne to occur, it’s not the only reason. There are many others. By taking the time to understand other reasons why you might experience acne you will be in a better position to determine what you should do about that acne.
While we often think of acne is little more than an annoying zit what it really is is an infection of the skin. This happens when bacteria gets into the pores and then breeds. This in turn aggravates the skin and causes the formation of what we’ve come to call the dreaded zit or acne.
Bacteria causes more oil to be produced and then the bacteria hides in that oil and things go from bad to worth. While this is the most common cause of acne, it’s not the only one. One way to reduce the risk of this bacteria turning into zits is by keeping your face properly cleaned.
Exfoliating is also good because it removes the dead skin that bacteria can otherwise feed on. Don’t exfoliate too often or you will cause damage to the skins surface and that could cause permanent damage.
While there is no direct link between eating unhealthy food and it causing acne, there is a direct link between eating healthy food and reducing the development of acne, so heat healthy and drink plenty of water.
Eating poorly lowers the body’s ability to reduce your immune system and that leads to excessive bacteria and the development of acne. Water helps to keep the skin hydrated and move bacteria along.
If you have never had acne and you now find yourself suffering from it you need to consider what has changed in your life. Teens find themselves with hormones raging and it can often be the underlying cause in that age bracket. As adults’ causes change. Women might find they break out during their monthly periods, while men might find they break out if they sweat heavily and are not wearing clothes that breathe.
There are many over the counter products that you can try. Don’t give up. If one doesn’t worth then you can try another. If OTC products aren’t working then make an appointment with your dermatologist.
A dermatologist might prescribe a medication or they might choose to use laser therapy or light therapy. There are many ways to rid your body of acne so don’t think for a minute that you must live with acne. Acne is not a life sentence unless you make it so. Take time to find a solution that work and rid yourself of acne forever. No more waking up dreading those terrible zits.
